SERVICE RECORD
LT Dan “BOUNCER” is proof that the fastest way into an electronic warfare squadron is to be the guy who already knows how to fix everything the electronic warfare squadron breaks. A Canadian Army veteran who grew up in Ontario and got his first taste of aviation in the air cadets, BOUNCER joins VMAQ-101 “Swipers” as the most overqualified mechanic anyone has ever handed a jamming pod.
He spent nearly ten years in the Army as a vehicle maintainer, eventually overseeing a fleet of roughly 42 LAV 6 armoured vehicles and a team of about a dozen soldiers who learned quickly that “it's broken” was never an acceptable final answer. In 2020 he deployed to Latvia in support of infantry and armour companies, keeping heavy iron moving on NATO's eastern edge.
After the Army he went north, working as a heavy equipment technician across the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Fort McMurray, wrenching on some of the largest earthmoving machines on the planet and doing field repairs at −50°C. Today he runs a company with a few friends doing alignments for highway trucks and trailers out of Edmonton, Alberta, where he lives with his soon-to-be wife and their three-year-old son, the only person in CVW-0 who outranks him.
Off the clock, BOUNCER has skied the Matterhorn, driven the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and paid his respects at Juno Beach. The Swipers figure anyone who can hold a line on the Nordschleife and keep a LAV running through a Baltic winter can handle a little cockpit workload. He brings practical experience, leadership, and a complete indifference to bad conditions, which is exactly what you want from a man whose job is to stay invisible right up until the enemy's radar stops working.
