SERVICE RECORD

Raised around aviation before he was old enough to understand just how expensive the obsession would eventually become, he grew up an Air Force brat in a family where airplanes were less of an interest and more of a hereditary condition. His father spent ten years as an air traffic controller in the United States Air Force before continuing another seventeen years with the FAA. His stepfather was a professional pilot and ultimately became his flight instructor, ensuring there was virtually no chance he would grow up to have a normal hobby.

His own flying career began in the extremely prestigious cockpit of Falcon 3.0, where an early addiction to the F-16 Fighting Falcon took hold and never really went away. Decades later, he remains an unapologetic Viper fanatic, with enough hours staring at simulated radar scopes to probably qualify as a minor neurological condition.

He spent eight years in the United States Navy, five on active duty and three in the Reserve, serving as an avionics technician specializing in radar and electronic countermeasures. That experience gave him an unusually deep understanding of the invisible side of aerial warfare. Emitters, radar behavior, electronic attack, signal interpretation and the complicated relationship between seeing something and convincing the enemy that they saw something else became his specialty.

Today, he works for the FAA maintaining the communications, navigation and surveillance equipment that pilots and controllers depend on to keep the National Airspace System moving safely. When CVW-0 began looking for personnel capable of understanding what Witchglass was actually doing rather than simply nodding intelligently whenever Trashman explained it, his background immediately stood out. Years spent maintaining radar, ECM and surveillance systems made him a natural fit for VAE-00 Witchglass and the increasingly bizarre electronic ecosystem surrounding Hive View.

Now known as “Da Spook,” he brings a maintainer's understanding of radar into a squadron built around making radar lie. A lifelong Viper fanatic somehow found himself assigned to one of the strangest aircraft aboard the USS Leviathan, helping Witchglass find aircraft that do not want to be found, hide aircraft that absolutely should be visible and occasionally convince an entire enemy air-defense network that the sky is considerably more crowded than it actually is.

For a guy who spent most of his life learning how radar works, CVW-0 finally gave him the opportunity to start breaking it.
