His callsign, Fridge, was born years earlier during a Red Flag exercise, when his jet took a direct SAM radar lock and he didn’t so much as flinch. The radio lit up with laughter as another pilot said, “He’s colder than a damn fridge.” The name stuck — and so did his reputation for keeping ice in his veins when things went nuclear.
