SERVICE RECORD
Some men fight to win, some fight to dominate. Others fight to maintain their ego and championship belt in mediocrity. Cpt. Chris “Risen” Bennett, never wanted to be a fighter pilot like his father, retired USAF Ltc. Bartholomew Gaylord Bennett IV, a legendary fighter pilot who once served in combat under a former president of the United States, making a name for himself in history as the ace who saved a president in aerial combat. Risen could never live up to this, and he knew it, but as far as he was concerned no one else did.
Some would say he was fed from the silver spoon, others that he is a mid-wit struck with undeserved luck time and time again, and truly gifted with the spectacular ability not to notice it. A walking specimen of the Dunning-Kreuger effect so blissfully convinced that he is the second coming of every ace who ever lived, while his OER's would suggest otherwise. But none of that matters to Risen. What matters to Risen is maintaining the facade that he is incredibly competent, and reinforce his reputation for having once defended in combat against 9 surface to air missiles in under two minutes using only energy management and superior maneuvering. Maybe it happened, maybe it didn't, maybe you need to stop asking so many questions.
Nevertheless, this reputation, and perhaps some behind the scenes nudging from his presidentially connected war hero father, granted him an opportunity to go on temporary assignment for a few months under non-disclosure agreement to advise on tactics, techniques, and procedures for suppression/destruction of enemy air defense. Others might argue his current command simply wanted to get rid of him for a while. Regardless of the cause, Risen saw this as an opportunity to finally get ahead of his less than spectacular evaluations and maybe, just maybe, promote ahead of Captain some day. What he never expected was to put on such a stupendously piss poor demonstration of doctrine so confidently, that he would be asked to stay and join the 18th Fighter Squadron of Carrier Air Wing 0, JSOC's newest toy in the arsenal.
