SERVICE RECORD
Darrell “Stroop” Hill is the kind of pilot who rarely looks rushed, even when everyone else in the cockpit is moving at a hundred miles an hour. Born with both Dutch and American roots, Darrell grew up with one foot in each world—something that eventually became part of his identity in the squadron.
He earned the callsign “Stroop” thanks to his Dutch background and the relentless teasing of his close buddy, “Waffels.” What started as a joke stuck, and before long, Stroop and Waffels became a familiar pair around the squadron.
After six years in service, Stroop has developed a reputation for being a fast learner and a precision-focused pilot. He absorbs new procedures quickly, stays calm under pressure, and approaches every mission with the same philosophy: know the aircraft, know the mission, and make every move count.
In the air, Stroop is focused and deliberate. He doesn't waste movement or words, especially when precision matters. Outside the cockpit, however, he's almost the opposite—easygoing, approachable, and usually ready with a joke.
His relaxed personality is one of his defining traits. Whether he's sitting in the ready room, working on his gear, or strapped into the cockpit before a mission, Stroop carries himself with the same quiet confidence.
“Stroop” might have started as a joke about being Dutch. After six years, it's simply who he is.
