FLIGHT SCHOOL
Every pilot in Carrier Air Wing Zero passes through VT-404 “Missing Junk” before they're trusted anywhere near the rest of the wing. Flight School is how you get there — request training, book a check ride, or set up your naming night, all through the Discord.
HOW TO GET STARTED
Request Flight Training
New to DCS, new to carrier ops, or just new to CVW-0? VT-404 instructors take pilots from wherever they're starting and build them up — basic aircraft familiarization, formation flying, carrier qualifications, weapons employment. Post in the training-request channel on Discord and an instructor will get you scheduled. No experience required, and no shame in starting from zero.
Request A Check Ride
Think you're ready to graduate out of VT-404? A check ride is your evaluation flight — an instructor flies with you or watches your section to confirm the fundamentals are locked in: procedures, formation discipline, weapons employment, and enough situational awareness to keep the rest of the flight alive. Pass it, and you're cleared to fly with the rest of the wing.
Request Naming Night
Every pilot earns a callsign, and callsigns aren't self-appointed. Naming Night is when the squadron gets together, tells embarrassing stories, and decides what you're going to be called for the rest of your time in the wing. Once you're flying regularly, ask your instructor or post in Discord — the rest takes care of itself, usually at your expense.
Nobody comes through the door expected to be an expert. Make mistakes, ask questions, get lost — that's what VT-404 is for. Every pilot flying with CVW-0 today started exactly where you are.
